Birthday Flowers Sydney: How to Order a Custom Bouquet
Planning a birthday gift in Sydney? Here's everything you need to know about ordering a custom flower bouquet — lead times, colour palettes, delivery, and more.
There's something about receiving flowers on your birthday that feels genuinely special — not a generic bunch from a service station, but something considered, colour-matched, and made to last. If you're planning a birthday gift for someone in Sydney, here's exactly what to know before you order.
How much notice do I need?
For a custom birthday bouquet from Studio Terra, you'll need a minimum of three days' lead time. This gives us time to source the right botanicals and build the arrangement properly. If you're planning ahead for a milestone birthday — a 30th, 50th, or any occasion where you want something truly special — booking a week or two out gives you more room to customise.
What size should I order?
Our bundles run from small gift-size pieces (3–5 stems, 20–30 cm) right up to XL statement arrangements (65–80 cm, 10+ stems). For a birthday, the Medium bundle is our most popular — it reads as genuinely generous without being overwhelming, and it fits beautifully in most vases.
If you want something that commands a room — think significant birthday, milestone anniversary, or a centrepiece gift — consider the Large or XL. These are the kind of pieces people keep for years.
Choosing a colour palette
This is where birthdays get fun. We offer 15 colour themes — from deep Reds and Purples for a dramatic, luxe feel, to soft Pastels and Creams for something gentle and timeless. For birthdays, a few customer favourites:
- Pink or Blush — romantic and celebratory without being over the top
- Warm sunset tones (ochres, terracottas, burnt oranges) — rich and distinctive
- Designer's choice — if you trust us to pick what's beautiful and in season, this is often our best work
You can also choose colour accents — Gold, Pearl, Sage, or Mocha ribbons and wrapping — to give the arrangement a polished, gift-ready finish.
Bouquet or box?
Both work beautifully for birthdays. A bouquet is classic — the recipient can trim the stems and arrange it themselves. A box presentation is more of a moment: everything's arranged and ready to display. If the person receiving it isn't much of a "fuss with flowers" type, the box is the easier choice.
Sydney delivery
We deliver across Sydney metro — including the CBD, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, Hills District, and Western suburbs. Delivery is $15 flat. Prefer to collect? Pickup is always free.
A gift that doesn't wilt on Tuesday
Here's what makes a Studio Terra arrangement different: our flowers are preserved and dried, not fresh. That means they last months to years, not days. The person receiving them doesn't need to change the water, worry about wilting, or feel like the clock is ticking. They can simply enjoy the arrangement — on a shelf, a desk, a bedside table — for as long as they like.
For a birthday gift, that staying power matters. It's not just a gesture that fades by the weekend. It's something they keep.
